in spring 2010 i was living on the lower east side, about to enter the worst depression of my life.

i got an opportunity to write a story about someone, someone magical. the opportunity to find the poem in this person, quite simply, saved my life.

and the person who encouraged me to keep after the project long after i had given up, she saved my life too; and allowed me, ultimately, to find the poem in myself.

i thank you from the bottom of my heart.
